Deputy Minister Welcomes World’s Largest Floating Book Fair to Sierra Leone, Bringing Hope and Inspiration

In a heartwarming ceremony at Queen Elizabeth II Quay, Sierra Leone welcomed the unique and unprecedented arrival of Logos Hope, the world’s most giant floating book fair. This ship, dedicated to spreading education and literacy across the globe, was more than a celebration of books-it was a celebration of hope and progress for the nation’s future, marked by a ribbon-cutting led by Madam Emily Gogra, Deputy Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE).

In her address to the attendees, Madam Gogra highlighted the profound importance of education in shaping Sierra Leone’s destiny. “Hope is in Sierra Leone, and it begins with education,” she declared, conveying optimism and urgency. For the Deputy Minister, Logos Hope’s arrival symbolizes learning and Sierra Leone’s aspirations for a better future.

“This ship is not just bringing books; it is bringing opportunities for our young people, a chance to dream bigger and aim higher,” Madam Gogra emphasized. She spoke passionately about how Logos Hope’s
mission aligns with the country’s focus on human capital development, with education as the foundation of national growth.

As guests explored the ship, filled with over 5,000 different book titles available at affordable prices, there was a palpable sense of excitement among students, teachers, and community members alike. Many saw this as more than just an event-it was a lifeline for those eager to learn and better themselves in a country where access to quality educational resources remains challenging.

The arrival of Logos hope, a symbol of hope and progress, comes at a critical time when Sierra Leone is pushing to improve its education system. “This event is more than just a floating book fair; it is a tangible reminder that quality education is not a far-off dream but something we can achieve together.” The Deputy Minister emphasized, “Hope is within reach, and it is more tangible than ever with the arrival of Logos Hope.”

As the ship’s visit unfolds, it is clear that the impact of this event extends
beyond the books. It is about the belief that through education, the people of Sierra Leone can build a brighter, more prosperous future-one where every child has the tools to succeed.

The floating book fair serves as a beacon of possibility, showing that with every page turned, Sierra Leone moves closer to realizing its dreams of progress, literacy, and hope for all.
