DRC Citizens detained for illegal entry

At least 14 citizens from Democratic Republic of Congo, who entered the country illegally, were detained on Wednesday in municipality of Ambaca, northern Cuanza Norte province, the National Police have announced.

Of those detained during a micro operation, there are eight children aged from 2 to 14 years old.

The immigrants entered Angola from the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo with the province of Uíge.

According to the spokesman for the Police in Cuanza Norte, Edgar Salvador, these foreigners were trying to reach Luanda, the country’s capital.

Since January of this year, border police have detained 25 illegal migrants at the Ambaca checkpoint, including these 14, all from Democratic Congo.
