Israel mobilizes additional reservists for war in Lebanon

The Israeli army has mobilized another reserve brigade for deployment in Lebanon.

The aim, according to a military statement from Friday, is to continue the fight against Hezbollah, and achieve Israel’s war objectives, including the return of displaced residents from the northern regions of Israel to their homes.

The statement did not specify how many soldiers are involved, but Israeli infantry brigades typically consist of 1,500 to 3,000 soldiers.

At the beginning of the month, the Israeli army launched a ground offensive in Lebanon, as well as carrying out airstrikes.

The operations are primarily aimed at ending the daily salvoes of rocket fire from Hezbollah, and enabling the return of approximately 60,000 displaced residents of northern Israel to their homes.

Hezbollah reportedly stated that the attacks, were intended to force an end to Israel’s offensive against the Palestinian militant organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s army is now taking action against Hezbollah in the neighbouring c
ountry, to destroy its infrastructure, weaken the militia, and push them back from the border towards the north.
