PSRU Enhances Capacity with Induction Training for Newly Recruited Staff

The Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU) has successfully conducted induction training for its newly recruited staff to strengthen its capability to lead and coordinate public sector reforms across Sierra Leone.

Madam Renisa Beckley, Head of Corporate Services at PSRU, emphasised the unit’s strategic role in aligning the systems and organisational structures of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) with the country’s national development goals. She particularly highlighted the importance of the Management and Functional Reviews, which are instrumental in identifying and addressing capacity, systems, and process challenges within MDAs, ensuring their alignment with the National Agenda.

Madam Beckley also stressed the significance of collaboration with development partners to ensure their contributions and resources align with the government’s priorities in public sector reform. She outlined the expectations for the new staff, focusing on punctuality, diligent performance, collaboration, and adherence to
PSRU policies and regulations. She also emphasised the unit’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the institution’s reputation, respecting colleagues and the public, and safeguarding confidentiality.

The PSRU, established initially as the Governance Reform Secretariat over two decades ago, was restructured in January 2008 to operate under the Office of the President, reinforcing its central role in Sierra Leone’s public sector reform efforts.
